With gold defining everything this season, from plate-like bib necklaces to metallic skinnies, make it your moment to shine! Bakers Model Search: A Preview

Yesterday, Bakers Shoes held an open model search. Over 200 ladies came out to audition to be the faces of Bakers Spring 2012 Campaign. DJ TrashTalk kept the girls hyped with great music, while on-air personalities Lux and Lern worked the crowd and gave away some killer prizes. We know it’s going to be a very difficult decision for the judges after seeing so many gorgeous girls with sparkling personalities.

We can’t wait to see what photos go up on the Bakers Shoes Facebook page, but in the mean time… relive our exciting day with the Bakers team through some of our favorite Instagram shots. We did our best to capture the excitement – from nervous first-timers to two darling mini-models (the daughters of jewelry designer, BelleStyle) who took the stage to snag a little lip gloss from the artists of Paul Mitchell School of St. Louis.

For more cool photos of the event, visit @BakersShoes on Instagram.

With all these pretty faces came some really inspiring stories. A few girls shared their experiences founding charities, while others let us in on their impressive resumes (including several multi-lingual international business and medical students going after their graduate degrees and PHDs).

After meeting so many amazing young women, we’re feeling more motivated than ever! Do you have a friend that goes above and beyond? Did you found a charitable organization?  Share your own inspirational stories in the comments below. We’re listening…

14 Days of Style: Day 3 – Bold & Beautiful

Like most holidays, Valentine’s Day means something different to everyone. And we kind of dig that. Let your freak flag fly – however dainty or adventurous it is.

Today we’re embracing the color blocking trend – as rocked by Katy Perry, Rihanna, and other daring celebs.

Blogger of the Week: Doina Ciobanu of The Golden Diamonds

As I am currently obsessed with everything from her feminine braids to her fab Chloe boots, I have decided to proclaim fashion blogger Doina Ciobanu February’s first “Blogger of the Week”–and add her to my daily style-stalking routine, of course. Working a look that is somehow both strikingly-fashionable and super-classic, the lovely lady behind “The Golden Diamonds” has already caught the attention of such celebrated street style shooters as The Sartorialist and Vanessa Jackman–and has her sights set on developing the fashion industry in her current home of Moldova. I will refrain from bringing back “You go, girl!”–though it has never seemed more fitting…

Trend Alert: Channel Your Inner Granny

Granny chic isn’t a new thing (by default, obviously), but that doesn’t mean we’re any less into it. From brogue or oxford inspired heels, to dainty florals mixed with earthy shades of mustard yellow, burgundy, olive green, or mauve – we’re down with this Little House On The Prairie goes to NYC aesthetic. Think a little less Betty White and a lot more Alexa Chung…

Any girl who has cracked the conundrum of how to look simultaneously casual and put-together gets street cred in our book–which is why we’ve been style-stalking Nany Ramirez, via her fab blog Nany’s Klozet.
