sandal ready soles.

Summertime means sandal time! To get your toes ready to show off in all those cute shoes, I’ve put together the ultimate ‘at home pedicure’ kit. Take the afternoon off and pamper those soles.

1.Trim, file, & shape your nails.

2. Scrub & exfoliate your feet with a sugar scrub.

3. Rinse scrub off, wrap a hot towel around your feet & legs.

4. Rub on a self tanning lotion to give your feet and legs a freshly bronzed look.

5. Paint nails with your favorite polish – i’m loving minty greens right now.

Be prepared for anything as we get into summer! In your white-hot summer handbag, dress up your phone and keep it charged longer next to your floppy hat, sunnies, a scarf and other warm weather beauty essentials. Make sure to take care of yourself with an SPF-enhanced tinted moisturizer, drink plenty of water with a resuable bottle and clean up any stray makeup or deodorant marks on your clothing with Bakers’ deodorant removing sponge.

And don’t be caught without an extra pair (or 2! or 3!!) of $39 sandals for when your late nights and good times wind down and your feet need a stylish rest!

Rocker Chic

With florals and feminine silhouettes everywhere you look, it’s no wonder this year has been hailed “the season of the lady”. When I first heard this my inner Mad Men character was thrilled! But then the biker in me was terrified. What will happen to all my spikes and studded jackets? Fear not ladies! Mixing feminine and edgier pieces can be a tantalizing combination. You can have a lady-like silhouette and still be rocker chic. Why not? Every woman is multi-faceted! How will you mix your pieces?
Mixes of florals and spikes, studs and leather.

Spring and Summer Darks: Wearing Shady Colors When It Gets Sunny

So I fell in love with a hi-low skirt recently that just happened to be burgundy (much like the one below!). It was the beginning of spring but though it was more of a fall color, the sheer fabric made it something that was completely relevant for the coming season. As a girl who relies pretty heavily on dark colors in her wardrobe, in order to keep a huge part of my clothes relevant in warmer months–especially this year, which is really a psychedelic color explosion!–I need to get creative.

First, I found this awesome little entry on MODA about spring darks in 2012. This was totally great insight, and I have a few additional thoughts on the matter, too! Here are some ways I like to keep my darks working for me in the spring and summer:

Wearing Spring Darks
Wearing Spring Darks by bakers-shoes featuring clutch handbags

1) Sheer fabrics – Breathable, see-through fabrics will maintain your sexy intrigue without causing you to sweat to death as the temperature rises.

2) Cutouts – Sn your back, sides, chest and arms, cutouts can show just the right amount of skin in unexpected places and help even a standard LBD keep you cool when it’s hot.

3) Surprising darks - Sheer fabric and modern cuts can make unexpected colors like burgundy, navy and emerald tones seem light and spring-y.

4) Embellishments – Tribal! Florals! beading! Sequins! Lace! Any of these embellishments will give crazy mobility to your darks.

5) Accessorize – Spring’s neon trend will really offsets darker colors so hats, belts, jewelry, bags and shoes can really wake your look up.

Who else tends to be a bit of a style vampire? What ways have you found to keep your dark side around through the sunshine?

Neutral Fun!

I’ve always loved wearing whites, golds, and corals in the summer. When I’m wearing light and airy colors, it makes me feel like I’m in the islands instead of stuck in the midwest! :-) I’m trying not to fall into my usual pattern of only rocking maxi dresses, so I created this board to inspire some different ways to feel breezy while still utilizing my staples from spring. Any ideas on how to use your fav spring items during the hottest months of the year?

Summer is approaching but we are not quite there, yet. Spring weather is pretty notorious for not being able to make up its mind! For those of us who have already busted out our tanks and shorts but have those days where it still gets a little chilly and we need to cover up a bit, here’s a few ways to transition a basic tank through this season into summer! Jackets and rain boots are also good to have on hand for those crazy rainy days that sneak up yon you…
