Spring 2012 Trend Analysis: Ivy Hill.
Tuesday, January 17th, 2012
This post begins the first of a series of trend analysis reports, focusing on different facets of fashion, brought to you through interviews and snapshots of some posh boutiques! Our gracious interviewees gave us the scoop on what’s in (and what’s out!) for Spring 2012. Our first stop: Ivy Hill boutique, where we spoke with Nina about what her predictions are for women’s apparel and accessories.
Ivy Hill is a cute little shop which boasts the latest fashion at every price point. Some of the biggest trends for Spring that Nina pointed out included: jewel tones, nautical inspired pieces such as striped tops and blazers, and nautical colors like bright white, navy and red with gold accents. Large, fun prints and vintage silhouettes from the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s were also a trend that Nina predicted. She pointed out a bright, bold printed shift dress and a pleated 70’s maxi dress to give us an example of what’s already on the shelves. She also noted that while feathers have been popular the past few seasons, they are not the main focus for Spring 2012, instead making way for angular, statement jewelry pieces. Other eye-catching pieces around the store included a Versace-esque print silk dress, vintage inspired chevron striped cardigan, and skinny jeans in a rainbow of colors!

I’m happy to see the trend in accessories move away from feathers. Feathers will have a place in my jewelry box for whenever I need a quick jolt of patterns and colors, but angular pieces always seem to be more versatile and statement making.
