anatomy of a bag: the perfect summer handbag

Be prepared for anything as we get into summer! In your white-hot summer handbag, dress up your phone and keep it charged longer next to your floppy hat, sunnies, a scarf and other warm weather beauty essentials. Make sure to take care of yourself with an SPF-enhanced tinted moisturizer, drink plenty of water with a resuable bottle and clean up any stray makeup or deodorant marks on your clothing with Bakers’ deodorant removing sponge.

And don’t be caught without an extra pair (or 2! or 3!!) of $39 sandals for when your late nights and good times wind down and your feet need a stylish rest!

Trend Alert: Black & White, & Bright All Over

When it comes to the hottest styles du jour, many were clearly inspired by pieces made popular during the decade of excess–otherwise known as the 1980s. In other words, this spring and summer, your best bet is to go big! While you can feel free to keep your go-to black and white neutrals in your outfit rotation, you’ll definitely want to add drama on the daily–by way of swimwear, skinnies, sunnies and more in poppy shades of red, blue and yellow. The result? A “totally tubular” look, all season long.

Any of the characters’ bell-bottoms, rainbow-bright shirts or wedge shoes could serve as perfect inspiration for your next shopping trip. spring trends: festival wear

With Coachella coming up this weekend and the Lolla line-up just announced, it’s time to get into that summer festival mindset. The sheer maxi is making a big debut this festival season – lightweight while looking seriously chic. Paired with a sequined stripped top, it adds texture and pattern, while still keeping the ensemble light and airy. Add a few bangles and strap on sandals so your feet stay comfortable during all that dancing. Toss your phone and chap-stick into a small clutch with a strap to keep it attached to your arm and top it off with a straw hat and colored rim shades to protect that pretty face from the day long sun exposure.

Are you going to any festivals this year?! Leave me a comment letting me know which festivals and what your festival essentials are!

Bare Necessities: What to Pack for Fun in the Sun

It’s the week you’ve been waiting for since, well, your last vacation. You’re about to hop a plane set for the city you call Paradise–then nothing is on the agenda but lounging in the sand and long walks on the beach. As you’re determined to work nothing but an itty-bitty bikini, you’ve even decided to skip your signature mega-suitcase in favor of a compact carry-on. While we agree that–sometimes–less is more, we feel the need to remind you that there are some things a girl should never be without; even if you do decide to leave your phone at home (we’ll believe it when we see it…), you’ll definitely want to pack a pair of fab shades, and–of course–your favorite shoes.

Spring Inspiration: 1940s Pin-Up Girl

Every season, there is one decade that seems to have dominated designers’ inspirations–and this spring is no exception. With cat-eye sunnies, cheeky cherry prints and retro hotpants highlighted in a plethora of collections, it is obvious that the 1940s were top of mind for many–specifically, the era’s sexy starlets. To get the look, simply play-up your inner pin-up in a curve-hugging wiggle dress or a high-waisted bikini–and think “What would Betty Grable wear?” when scoping the stores for your next pair of heels.
